Cleaning and other household issues...

I occasionally plug up my bathroom sinks and pour a little clorox in and let it soak for a couple of hours. We also have hard water, so using vinegar or bleach (NOT AT THE SAME TIME) works wonders.
I have to use vinegar on the deposits. It's that constant stain that ticks me off. LOL!
I'll try the bleach and a toothbrush. If that doesn't work I will look at these other ideas.

So do any of you have those low flow toilets? Our landlord has everything in these apts. low flow. They suck. LOL! The toilets are useless because you gotta flush more than once or they plug up.

My house was built in the 60s. The toilet works fine, but cosmetically could stand to be replaced...but it's not low-flow, so it's gonna stay.

I'm on well & septic, so am not violating a moral duty by keeping it. It all gets recycled back into ground water and filtered through Mother Earth.

If Al Gore can live in a 35,000 ft² mansion and fly around in a private jet, I can have my inefficient crapper!

Mine were old, so I replaced all 4 with new Kohlers. My plumber included them with my re-pipe. They only use 1.2 gallons/flush & EVERYTHING disappears on the first flush. They use an "Aqua Piston & upgraded water flow. Toto also makes a great low-water toilet. A landlord will probably buy the cheapest $99.00 toilets. The modern ones with the good flushes are around $250.00.

Discussing flushing performance of toilets. Now there is an appropriate topic for an old folks forum if I have ever read one. Because of my hip I recently replaced all my thrones with new high rise low flow models. They flush great.

My parents couldn't afford a new toilet so when mom got rheumatoid arthritis they had to get one of those seats that's really tall.

Product Review
I've had several people ask me about those plug in pest control things.
I have one for every room in the house except the bedroom. The little flashing light was annoying.
I spent $20 per device and it's been the best investment I've made.

I don't know about how it performs on mice but, the one that was in our building never returned to the apt after I got these. The apartment I was in was extremely inhabited by roaches and bed bugs. These take like a month to really start becoming effective. As time goes on they get more and more effective. Once the bugs found out I had these, they went to all the other apts. surrounding me but, they stayed outta mine. I didn't take a solitary bed bug with me and the only roach that traveled was a dead one.

In this new apt. I had noticed there were ants when I moved in. Several spiders, too. I only get a spider or 3 per summer now. Mostly at the doors cuz they can get in. I have had no more issues with ants. It kills the crickets and spiders that find their way into the basement. I will continue to use these throughout my lifetime I'm sure.

Mix making soda and hydrogen peroxide until you get a moist paste the apply the paste and let set for several hours. The material used to make the sink will be important in removing stains and yours does not appear to be porcelain.

It feels like a coated plastic.

It feels like a coated plastic.
That's possible.

You could knock or tap on it from underneath and see if it rings like glass or if is thuds like plastic.

I looked at Lowes and Home Depot and they do not sell fiberglass or plastic bathroom sinks, but there is such a thing. Your landlord might have purchased them at an independent supply place.

Bartender's Friend is safe on fiberglass, but says nothing about plastic. Don't use pumice.
Whatever you do (if you decide to even do anything), test it on an inconspicuous spot first.

Can you tell from the bottom if it's fiberglass? It could be. I'm sure he got the cheapest thing he could get.

One ringy dingy *snort*
