Clearing up after our dogs

Every single time, we carry poop bags and use them. I carry spares in the pocket of every pair of trousers and each coat as routine, in case. Yet round where we live we get antisocial irresponsible people who leave dog mess for everyone to walk round or tread on in the dark. Even in park areas where children play and families relax. It's unbelievably annoying and give all dog owners a bad image. Why in this day and age do people still do this?

This is the UK, what is the law in your country if you don't live here? I'm just curious. I read that in Paris the pavements are washed nightly.

It always seems to be big dogs' mess, in my view. I suspect those who walk after dark or very early - but that's just my suspicious mind. I've never heard of anyone being actually fined or punished.

Here in Sunset park there is an area specifically set aside for dogs to be let loose. That area is barren of grass. Of course with so many there that is well taken care of.
But the park is huge with walking trails & jogging paths. Dog owners don't have a problem walking their dogs in the grass or on the trails . The problem they have is when others are around walking or jogging cleaning up after their dog becomes a stinky chore. I think the mentality is if no one sees it then it didn't happen. The term responsible pet owner just doesn't apply to so many.

It's usually a city/village ordinance that most have that you have to pick up dog logs in public places. Our local bike/walking path have bag holders spotted through the part in town for people to use if they don't have one on them. I keep some in the truck for the pup when we are out with him.

I'm not a pet owner.

The ordinance in the city is that dog owners must clean up their pet's poop. I visit a big park four morning a week to exercise. At certain intervals along the one mile walking track, there are poop bag dispensers with free bags. I always see people walking their dogs. Some are responsible and the others are down right disgusting. The latter obviously couldn't care less if someone steps in dog sh*t.

Before mowing my front yard, I always do a walk through to make sure there is no poop that would end up getting shredded by the mower blades. Every now and then, I have to do a pick up even though I don't have a pet.

That is awful.

I find it extremely difficult to pick up anyone else's dogs mess. My own dog's, absolutely no problem, it's a few seconds to be a good citizen.

Almost every household in my neighbourhood has at least one dog if not more.. they walk their dogs past my house every day, several times a day.. and I have to say I have never seen anyone not pick up after their dog here... I'd be appalled if I saw that...

The local paths and parks provide free bags and lots of bins to dispose them. A really fun game for the jerky owners is to pick up and then hang the bag in a tree. Obviously a tall jerk. Grrrr. šŸ˜’

That's so wrong. Too many people are jerky in too many ways. I'd absolutely clean up after my dog if I had one. In the fake lake area, they have bag and disposal stations. I have rarely though, even with that, noted dog poop.

You can never tell who is the problem we had a lovely gentleman who walked daily with his dog.....
he was so nice and pleasant then one day looking out my window i saw him let his dog do the deed and he walked away i was so disappointed but never looked at him the same way....
when we have dog items found in common HOA areas people most often assume who is at fault i know now it takes all kinds.

We have dogs and carry poo bags when we take our dogs for a walk and use them. We are responsible pet owners. When we use them we depose of them into the garbage, where they belong. Hanging your dogs poo bag up in a tree for all to see is being a total jerk. If you don’t like carrying your dogs poo bags, you aren’t a responsible dog owner and don’t deserve a dog. Why should others have to deal with your dogs waste? That’s just nasty.
