Climbing Mount Everest

Neat video. BUT, there are a jillion things I'd prefer doing than attempt that trek.
Guess the only reason for doing it (If you ask one of them.) is, "Because its THERE."

I've read many books about Everest expeditions and it's fascinating to imagine. I'm also deathly afraid of heights, walk with a limp, and hate the cold, so I'll just stick to imagining.

Interesting video -- not my cup of tea either -- looks very cold up there. A very busy place nowadays with so many climbers and their garbage.

Like anything else....if people can mess things up...they Will. It's pretty hard to go anywhere without seeing all sorts of trash along the way. If I were King, I would put a $1 deposit on plastic water bottles, and beer/soda cans.

They also say oxygen cartridges are littered everywhere. One of the more disturbing sights might be frozen bodies. Here and there are a bunch of hikers who didn't make it and weren't brought down.

I have a sister who was into mountain climbing. She did Mount Kilimanjaro (and came home with malaria) and Gokyo Ri in the Himalayas (and came home with a husband -- we're pretty sure it was altitude sickness in this case instead of malaria...). Luckily, she recovered from the malaria and eventually recovered from the husband.
