I'm so glad CNN is working on this story because when they do it, other news outlets may follow and get the word out.

"It’s theft at a scale so large that investigators are now calling it a mass transfer of wealth from middle-class Americans to criminal gangs. Last year, the FBI estimates, pig butchering scams stole nearly $4 billion from tens of thousands of American victims, a 53% increase from the year before."

I read some really horrible stories that were reported to the police. I don't know if the public has access to the IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center) or not, but you can try to log into their database and read some of the horrific stories that have been reported. The IC3 is run by the FBI, but like so many other law enforcement agencies, their having issues hiring and training people to cover all of the complaints.

When we're talking about the mountains of money that are being stolen each year, you would understand that this is a real problem. Billions of dollars from Americans alone are being stolen and it's not just one person who has committed suicide over losing his life's fortune, it's been many.

Many people blame it on the investors trying to get richer and so their own greed costs them their money and sometimes their life. That may be true in a few of the instances, but a lot of us that invest are trying to increase our wealth legitimately, but end up being taken for a ride and don't realize it until it's too late. Needless to say, we have to be super careful.

I don't invest anymore. I am strictly in a group of funds, mostly safe money and haven't had much to complain about.

"Many people blame it on investors..."

And that is called "blaming the victim". They can blame 7-year-olds for being molested too:"She was flirting with me in that cute little dress of hers."

These victims are groomed, duped and then dumped. Like child molesters, they have much more power than their victims and much more knowledge of technology and human nature. There is an imbalance of POWER and knowledge and the criminals know this.

For those who wonder what it is:

"The scams – mostly run out of Southeast Asia - are given that name because they involve “fattening up” victims before taking everything they have. The con artists behind them take on false online identities and spend months financially grooming their victims to get them to invest on fraudulent cryptocurrency websites."
