Coffee ? Take a seat...

It seems wherever you look these days people are walking around eating or drinking

Browsing round the shops with a friend recently she suggested we get a coffee, I pointed out a coffee shop but she meant us to buy a takeaway coffee to drink as we walked around, going along with it I felt most uncomfortable, didn’t enjoy it one bit and binned it at the first opportunity

Do you drink, or eat as you walk around the shops ?

We usually sit down and drink our coffee. I thought most stores in malls don't allow you to take a drink inside? If you are talking about an open market place, I guess I'd still rather sit down and drink my coffee. We usually only drink coffee at home or in our car on a trip.

No I don’t like walking and eating. They don’t go together well.

Especially while browsing the shops, you’ve got your bag in one hand, coffee in the other....I was expecting someone to tell us we couldn’t take it in a shop but nobody seemed bothered

Coffee ? Take a seat...

Knowing that I'm sort of a klutz and can't walk and chew gum at the same time I believe I'll take a seat.

Yes I totally agree, I just have no idea how people can walk and drink like that, especially a hot drink. I wouldn't enjoy it at all. I always stop at the cafe for a drink, it's kind of a little highlight of the shopping experience.

Linda you're right, here where I live the shops don't allow you to take the drinks inside, but of course you can walk around inside the mall with them , or as we have here in the Uk many shops still on the high street and not situated inside a Mall.

Like this.... Imagine carrying a hot drink in this crowd?...many people do.... Oxford street London....

ohmygosh, Holly!!! That's like a scene from a horror movie and my worst nightmare combined. Does it really get like that or is the picture photoshopped?

No the picture is not photo-shopped Tommy, this is Oxford street during the Sales season.... and really it's not a lot less on normal weekends either tbh...

remember this is just one shopping street in Central London.. there are many more leading off this street.. regents street, Bond street, Tottenham court road, Piccadily, Covent Garden, Carnaby street, Leicester, and Trafalgar Square...and much more, all full with shoppers..

It's a nightmare to drive into London, and on top of that it costs a fortune to park and further to that there's a congestion charge to pay as well...

fortunately there's an excellent public transport system for those who live in London and the greater London area which means people can get to work, but for shopping, it's an absolute manic crowded circus...

I'm in a big college town, I get out and roam around, weekly. I've never observed the phenomenon you mention, here. Maybe it'll pop up, here, eventually.

This is a Saturday evening in December (last month)... Many of course are there to visit the Christmas lights, but it's still very busy on any Evening...

Much longer with sound.....

Since I retired I take the time to sit in the coffee shop or on a park bench and relax.

The thing that annoys me is people abandoning a partial cup of coffee where ever it suits them.

I've tried walking with coffee, not satisfying.

Supermarkets are the only stores or shops that allow it where I live. In fact, many have cup-holders built into to the carts because some coffee vendors have concessions right in the supermarket, especially Dunkin Donuts. Usually there's a few tables where you can sit, but not many.

I have enough time in my day where I don’t have to multitask and shop and eat/drink at the same time. Thank goodness!

I like to enjoy my food or coffee and if you’re shopping you’re distracted.

Here in Fresno most of the Targets and Safeways have a Starbucks in them...with tables and chairs.

Yeah, no

I like to enjoy my coffee
In the car is as close to on the go as it gets for me

I do get a hankering for eating a hotdog in a paper wrapper and sipping a to go cup of coffee on a NY city street corner in winter, whenever I see a detective in a movie doing that.
Something about the greyness, and the steam coming from the manhole cover.
Makes the dog and java look so good.

It isn’t

Exactly. Plus I don’t want to be responsible for ruining items that aren’t yet mine.
I’d rather wait to purchase it before I do so. Lol

Haha Gary. You have a way with words.

Oh,that reminds me;I HATE that tax-evading Starbucks place-so I went to a new place,a family-owned and run little cafe just off the High Street.
I ordered my usual,a 20oz,4-shot,1/3-decaf,non-foam,soy-breve cappuccino, with three pumps of sugar-free vanilla and two pumps sugar-free chocolate, mochiatto with extra dairy-free whipped-cream & marshmallow topping...and the bloke behind me in the queue had the cheek to call me PRETENTIOUS!!!! ME!!!!

Would you make that two, please, my lord Elpus?

Walking and drinking coffee is a no-no for me it is not
nice, I only ever sit in to drink coffee.

You cannot drink anything like that in a clothes shop,
or any shop for that matter, most supermarkets have
a chain food shop, or one of their own, but you have
to sit in the café area to get anything, you can get a
"to go" cup, but you have to go out of the store with it.

Mike.
