Woman's college basketball star Caitlin Clarke seems to be getting alot of rough treatment from opposing players in the women's professional league. She seems to be the recipient of alot of hard fouls or flagrant fouls. Some maybe typical welcome to the pros t to the new guy/girl. But alot seems malicious.

To top it off her team is not a good one so her presence although turning into record fan interest it's not turning into wins which is expected-New environment, rules, teammates etc. So even though statistically not bad for a rookie she also receiving flack for lack of wins.

Seems to be a jealousy/resentment factor but being a first year pro she's not beefed up muscle/weight wise which is not helping. And her teammates don't seems to be working with her let alone protecting her. Also considering the teams losing record and poor strategic use of Clark per fans they wanted the coach fired by the third game.

I didn't expect statistical records like points and wins like in college but I didn't expect the resentment either.
 

Biting the hand that feeds you. She is bringing thousands of new fans to a league that has never turned a profit and only exists because the NBA subsidizes it. Profitability will bring raises to all but they're simply too stupid to realize that. Jealousy and yes, racism involved.
 
I have faith she will toughen up. She is in a different environment now…and she will succeed or fail.
 

I have to smile when I hear female basketball players complaining about getting hurt. They need to watch the Women's Professional Hockey league games, where the female players are flying at around 22 mph, hitting each other full tilt, and some of the slap shots are at 80 mph and more. And they are all carrying sticks and wearing razor sharp skate blades on their feet. A typical hockey locker room team slogan is NO WHINING in this room. JIMB.
 
Apparently a Clarkless US women's Olympic basketball is not getting great attendance or ratings. The up coming quarter final between the US and Germany has the Olympics offering sit any where for 24 Euros. Spain v China had more attendance than the US opening game.

Why is she not on the team? Is it because of the mess she is in after going pro? I see snippets of her melodrama in the Pros. What is that about? She is just a rookie, right?

I think you're right, Gary. And the press won't report that aspect because it's black on white. Can you imagine if the women's races were reversed? You'd never hear the end of it.
 
In spite of her being a target for those without her skills, she's already setting new records in the pros. I just read that last week, but I can't remember which records. It's sounds like she's just getting started.

Edit: One record was for most 3 pointers in some specific amount of time.
 
I saw her play. This play that’s mentioned in the post is also available on YouTube. The penalty for a flagrant foul should be an ejection. The way she was hit could have caused much more damage than it did. She hits 3-point shots from 20 feet out.
 
I'm not sure what the fans want, but if contact has to get flagrant to appease the roller Derby crowd, I won't tune in.
