How watching 'comfort' TV can help ease an anxiety flare up

There are some old TV shows that are pleasant to revisit. When they are available to watch, I find that shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show are relaxing and still entertaining. But, there are some that seem to have a lot of yelling in them. Murphy Brown and Frasier for instance.
I like watching The Golden Girls, but if I wouldn't say it was a comfort to watch. Insults, selfish behavior, and some stupidity seem to be mixed into each show.

It's true that sometimes we want something which is easy to watch. We have several British dramas set in Britain as we would like it to be, no bad language, no goriness, no litter, no scruffiness.

I found “Where the Heart Is” on Amazon and that’s been a nice show to come home to and just relax

I love Frasier. Have been watching it for years over and over again. There are some really funny episodes eg when Frasier attempts to produce the crime play on the radio 'Nightmare on.....
But what sets me off 🤣 is the fact that they are psychiatrists/therapists and the show merely reflects my view of some psychiatrists/therapists: PHYSICIAN HEAL THYSELF ! Just a thought, no offence to anyone who may be in this profession or have worked in the profession in the past. :)

I enjoy watching many of the older shows. On You Tube I watched all the Dick Van Dyke show episodes and all in the Family and most of the Dean Martin Roasts, I also like watching old episodes of Criminal Minds. Of course I may be a little strange because for the last 2 weeks I watched every episode of Dexter.

One of my favorites was "Everybody Loves Raymond".....so relatable and funny because it fed off real life scenarios. Super-talented writers!

I love British shows. Just got Acorn so I can watch more of them.

After all these years of COP/Detective shows of all sorts on regular TV, just maybe TV will get back to a kinder and gentler time when TV wasn't full of violence and killing ... Bring back comedy, and the lighter stuff that we used to enjoy years past.

I didn't think I would live long enough to see change like that! But maybe I might. Hope the wheels are turning toward a new era.

And I could use a lot less graphic sex in movies, it’s not necessary and really restricts what you can see with your grown kids. I don’t want to watch a movie with my son or granddaughter with mindless sex in it. I would get embarrassed even if they were not.

I agree, graphic sex in movies are not necessary to make a point. For one thing graphic movie sex portrays an unrealistic of people and relationships, although not considered porn it is every bit as fake as porn and perhaps equally suggestive.
