Common Sense and the Search For Ghosts

I owned and lived in a haunted house for about a decade in west Texas also witnessed by friends, so I know there are some unexplained things in this world. My issues start with the fact that through history it's reported that over 107 billion people have been born on earth and it's safe to say that most of them have died. http://www.prb.org/Publications/Articles/2002/HowManyPeopleHaveEverLivedonEarth.aspx
So, shouldn't ghost hunting be a whole lot more successful than we see on these wild television shows? Heck with over a hundred billion dead folks, I'm surprised we don't trip over slime or wander through "cold spots" every other step we take. Now, the ghosts that lived in my house and I peacefully coexisted and they only became active when I had folks spend the weekend and seemed to have a great sense of humor. They were able to drive the previous owner out and he was a former border patrol agent so why they accepted me, I'll never know.
My question is: How do y'all feel about the paranormal frenzy on television and in movies. Have you ever dealt with a "possessed person or saw a ghost? Is it all just a way to make money for mediums, so called demonologists, and fame craving wanna-be celebrities? PS: This is why "HauntedTexan" became my name here.

I've lost some very close relatives, and I have always welcomed any signs of communication, either through dreams or other signs in real life. Both my in laws were very sick and elderly, one suffered a major stroke. They both live with us for years before passing peacefully in our home, and there has been no signs of any spirits, ghosts or communications. If I thought a house was really haunted or possessed, I couldn't be comfortable enough to live there....so far that hasn't happened. I do keep an open mind about these things, but seein' is believin' and so far haven't seen a thing.

Ghosts and Zombies, etc., make good movies and TV shows...for some, I guess. I sometimes think about my parents, relatives, and close friends I've lost over the years, but so far none of them have paid me a "visit".

I never saw the ghosts in my house, but the noises they made were distinct and intentional. One tome, I "felt" something sit on my bed next to me! Immediately declared, loudly, that it could never happen again, and it never did. The lady that lived there as a little girl said her mom would call her, later in life, saying that someone was trying to break in because of the knocks on the doors windows and floor. The haunted house reputation sure saved me candy on Halloween, though...:eek1:

With that one statement you lost me.

Only on "Reality TV Shows" on cable TV do we find "almost" sightings and "just missed" evidence of ghosts, bigfoot, etc., EVERY WEEK on TV.
EVERY WEEK, we just miss it, but next week ....... well next week we'll be ready.

This is tin foil hat nonsense.

When my son wwas at the crawling stage we lived in an oold cottageee in Cornwall.

He would ssomeetimes break into a smile andd crawl over to thevstairwell and sit there gurgling away at a blank wall. So would a neighbour's daughter, a polceman's child, when she came to visit. The dog would often go to the same place, wagging his tail, whether the kidsvwere there or not. When we told the story in the village they simply said "Oh, tnat will be one of the old people, it used to be an almshouse."

Again while we lived in Cornwall we drove through an area where my wife became very distressed, so much so that eventually I wouldmake athree mile diversion rather rhan put her throgh it (It was on a regular route). We later found ou t that was where they burned the witches,

I believe that my ghosts live in my mind, some days it gets rather crowded, LOL!

Paranormal activity is another matter. I believe that some types of paranormal activity are possible and that someday we will develop an understanding of how to expand our mental powers.

I saw a ghost (or Jinn maybe) floating in my hallway while I was looking in the bathroom mirror. I watched him silently for about a minute. He had on a plaid shirt, salt and pepper hair and could have been a light skinned Black man or tanned White man. I do not know who he was. Suddenly he just seemed to float sideways into our studio room. Surprised at myself...I was not frightened at all. An ex boyfriend who used to ridicule those who believed in ghosts saw a old woman sitting on his little daughter's bed. He called me all scared for advice on what to do. I have a good friend who has a resident ghost that her and her son called Top Hat because he always presents with his top hat. She saw him one day while we were on the phone and became startled. She was by her car in front of the garage. Top Hat entered her house which is up a few steps. He would have had to pass her to get up there but she didn't see him until he went to enter her apartment. A couple of weeks before that, a friend who was helping her clean out her basement said he saw him. Her son had been seeing him since he was a little boy and would be frightened. I've also felt some presences a couple of times. After my favorite cousin died (we were more like siblings) I felt three distinct firm taps in the middle of my back which awoke me from a sleep. I was sure my little boy was playing with me. I looked under my bed, in the closet and finally in his room where he was fast asleep. Last year an entity was pulling at my arm and i got quite annoyed. First I thought I was dreaming, then I thought it was my husband teasing me but it wasn't. When I came back from the bathroom, which was normal temperature, the area around where the annoyance took place was very cold.

My son's ex with whom I'm very close and his son, my oldest grandson (not her son) have both seen shadow people in their apartments. I believe our souls are energy and that energy doesn't dissipate. Many may have moved on to other realms and that's why we are not tripping over spirits. I believe another reason is that some people have the ability to see them while others do not. Some spirits hang around because there's unfinished business. I have a couple of online friends that I've been connected to for over 10 years. One is positively brilliant. She has a resident ghost who has followed her to another state. Both she and her daughter have seen him. There's so much about life and the after life that we don't know. Fascinating subject to me. I have a couple more ghost (true) stories which I'll post about another time.
