I subscribe to Josh Bernhoff's blog and tend to like his no BS style (hence the name of his blog). Anyway, here is yesterday's short but insightful entry which will make you think.

Interesting Bob. In April 2000 I left the US to live in the UK.

I thought it was odd how when I left the US most people did not have mobile phones. But when I arrived in the UK just about everybody over the age of 9 or 10 had one.

In 2000 we did not have a computer. We were online with a WebTV, which was a box that plugged into a phone jack, and the TV. It displayed on the TV screen. It had a cordless keyboard and you could sit on the couch and be on the net. It was slow and primitive.

Microsoft bought WebTV, neglected it to death and then shut it down.

As 2000 began i was still using FREE dial up,by the end of 2000 they were almost all gone.

If the last 15 years have "spawned" substantial changes, just imagine what the next 15 or 20 will potentially bring. Technology is increasing at a rapid pace...artificial intelligence is doubling in capability with every passing year...humans may be obsolete within the foreseeable future. Climate change is increasing faster than scientists were predicting as recently as 5 years ago. Population is outstripping the supply of decent jobs. Even something as basic as clean fresh water is becoming unavailable to more and more. If this upcoming election is an example of what we can expect for leadership, this nation is headed for some rough times. I am not optimistic about the world our future generations will inherit.
