Competent leaders who are squeaky clean?

We had a past PM who was held in very high esteem. Bob Hawke. But his private life was anything but perfect. Unfaithful to his wife and at one stage an alcoholic.
The current PM is a Pentecostal Christian. It is highly unlikely he will be found to have any weaknesses like Hawke. Morrison is a strong leader but maybe not in the same league as Hawke .
Maybe I expect too much of leaders but wouldnt it be nice to have a very competent leader who has nothing to be ashamed of in their personal life .
Are squeaky clean people in general less competent in their career?

Just was trying to say that one doesn't necessarily prove the other which is likely not what you meant but is what I read. Logical inconsistencies is one of my things.
 
One of my favorite Peter, Paul & Mary songs "All Mixed Up" has the lyrics:
"No race of man is completely pure....nor is anyone's mind...that's for sure."

A nun I worked for once commented that morality is not only about what goes on below the waist. With that in mind I would point out that PM Morrison managed to win his preselection by branch stacking and now presides over a cruel policy that persecutes asylum seekers. He is not Robinson Crusoe in these moral failings but neither is he without blemish.

Actually this thread is on very thin ice. Discussion of politics is not allowed because of nastiness in the past. We should probably let this topic die now. Ignoring this rule of the mods can lead to suspension. from the forum.
