No, thank you.
I have noticed I am not 20 any more.
:giggle:

We took a ride on an antique train and then a boat ride on the Ijsselmeer (Zuider Zee). We drove to Apeldorn and visited a very nice art museum in the forest. Driving in Amsterdam was an experience with the kamikaze bike riders. Madurodam miniature village was fun.
We were younger then which helped a lot.

Except for changing planes, my last trip to Amsterdam was in 1967 as a teenager.

It was pouring rain and dark when we got off there, so we grabbed the first hotel we found. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it was in the Red Light District. Paid our rent and headed up to our room. Hmmmm. No lock on the door. OK, we'll push the bed against the door. All night long, people stomped up and down the narrow stairs. Our door was tried several times. We didn't sleep well, as you can imagine.

The next morning, we checked out to look for another hotel. Ohhhhhhhh, it became obvious where we were when we saw the young women sitting on chairs in the windows.

We had a great time, though. Lots to do and see and eat.

I visited Amsterdam several times, back in the early '60's, when I was still quite young and single. Canal Street was a big Red Light district, with pretty girls sitting in the windows. Drugs were still illegal back then, but the booze flowed freely, and it was quite a party town.

You lost me at "smoke filled".

Recreational pot is legal here in CA so all we need to do is to go to a local dispensary in order to imbibe.

We visited Amsterdam in 2015 and had a wonderful time. We were able to find lots of places to go where there wasn't a lot of smoke. I would love to go back and if I did I'd want to spend more time outdoors in the parks. We loved the museums including the museum of purses which was very interesting. We also found our favorite restaurant in Europe there with very reasonable prices, wonderful food and a very engaged and interesting staff.

An all expense paid, one week luxury trip to Amsterdam? Can't believe how many above would turn that down. I surely wouldn't!

Recreational and medical marijuana are legal in California so that wouldn't attract me, but it being widely available wouldn't put me off.

I never particularly loved the MJ high, plus my body has an adverse reaction to THC (non-life threatening pre-ventricular contractions) so I don't indulge.
