Cooking, love it or hate it ?

Is cooking just another chore to you, something that has to be done as quickly and basically as possible ?

I enjoy it myself, especially at this time of year, just bought some fresh cod to make fish cakes today and braising steak for a nice rich casserole which will go in the freezer

I would love to be more adventurous and try my hand at Thai or Indian food but there seems to be so many varied ingredients and, as I live alone, they would never be used up before the sell by dates....

I'm doing more and more of the cooking these days. I enjoy trying new recipes or making up my own, but I'm not very good at cooking a full meal and getting everything done on time. Casseroles and one skillet meals are my friends.

I enjoy eating and I enjoy feeding people!

Cooking for one is a challenge but I still make scaled down versions of the recipes that I grew up with. I have to pace myself and only cook one or two dishes at a time. I tend to celebrate the Thanksgiving or Christmas season instead of having all of the traditional favorites at one meal like I did when I was younger. I'm not sure if it's the food or the memories that I enjoy most.

I like cooking. I wouldn't say love. Definitely not hate. I'm single but I still take pleasure in creating an attractive colorful plate of perfectly married flavors with the challenge of being nutritionally conscious. It's the artist side of me with a touch of chemistry lab :D.

It doesn't take me much time. If it does then no problem because I've got the time. I use a small plate for portion control because it's easy to cook too much for one person. It's the clean-up afterwards that I dislike but well worth it.

Since retiring I've been spending more time in the kitchen learning to cook. The missus does a lot of volunteering, church work, and grandbaby sitting for the kids, so I'm doing what I can around the house. I like the cooking part, washing dishes not so much but I try to keep up with them as I go along. My Dad did a lot of cooking back in the day, maybe I get that from him.

Used to love cooking and am a very good cook. Since my husband has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, it’s too stressful for me to even decide what we’re having for dinner each day. I think I’ve hit my stressed out level.

I used to LOVE cooking. Now, I like it and enjoy it at times; it's the clean up I hate! I will always be interested in food, food history and food preparation, though.

Agree, the pots and pans seem to get heavier.

My wife is a great cook....and seems to enjoy it. However, I do my own breakfasts...omelets, waffles, etc., and about once every couple of weeks, I make Supper for us. That is more of a "Practical" exercise than a necessity, so that if the wife becomes ill, or passes before I do, I will not be completely helpless in the kitchen.

I might be the opposite of terry123. I grew up in a big family. My mother was a great cook so I learned from the best. She was taught by members of her family who were European chefs, and then she married my father who was a meat and potatoes guy.

I spent years having to adapt my cooking to the likes and dislikes of the people I lived with. Now i truly enjoy cooking what I like, when I like and how I like. Don't like mushrooms? Fine, then don't eat at my house. I won't ever go back to the way I did things before.

I love cooking and baking but I absolutely hare washing dishes and baking is worse with all those sticky pans. I swear the best glue on the planet is dried dough.
