Cops misbehaving in the US

Perry County, TN and the 32nd District DA failing in it's attempt at squashing the free speech of all Americans, which is guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.

"The criminal charge against Larry Bushart, the Tennessee man who was arrested and charged with threat of mass violence after posting a picture on a social media page following the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has been dropped, the Perry County Circuit Court Clerk's Office said.

A clerk's office employee said the district attorney's office dropped the charge against Bushart, 61, from Lexington, on Oct. 29. The 32nd District Attorney's Office, led by Hans Schwendimann, handles cases in Perry County.

Bushart, who had been jailed on a $2 million bond since his arrest on Sept. 22, was set free that afternoon. At 3:07 p.m., an employee of the Perry County Sheriff's Office said Bushart had been released a little more than an hour before."

These people have sworn to uphold the Constitution. Hopefully LB wins biggly when he sues Perry County and the DA's office.

^^^Some seemingly have little regard for others and w with qualified immunity, poor or no training, and complete protection from the rest of justice system has got us to where we are today.

And many find the situation perfectly acceptable.

The victim in this case has died after a year mostly spent in hospitals. The local (locally elected) DA charged the cop and then the state AG (political overtones not suitable for SF)) took control of the case and dropped charges. The system is rigged in favor of the cops.

Update 10/27/2025

You can't make this stuff up. Tennessee has a DUI problem. 600 completely sober people were arrested for DUI btwn 2017-2023.

The Tenn legislature's remedy is pathetic. Instead of removing arrest quotas, improve training, and disciplining officers for their errors they instituted a report!!! It seems like the legislature approves of false DUI arrest so they enact a meaningless law that does nothing to actually stop the practice of false DUI arrest. The new law requires law enforcement to report how many sober people they arrest for DUI. For 3 years, so in 3 years it will be back to business as usual.

Perhaps not rehiring cops that have resigned, or been fired from other agencies and removing qualified and unqualified immunity from cops and prosecutors would go a long way to cleaning up the rot.

Obviously being falsely arrested is never good, but being accused of DUI is a life changing event. The taxpayers will pay for those "mistakes."

Tenn facing lawsuits false DUI arrests

Marion County KS to pay $3 million

The police chief left one department, after allegations of wrongdoing and does major damage at his next stop. "Now, in a court-approved agreement, Marion County will pay more than $3 million US for its role in the raid, and the sheriff’s office has issued an apology."

Freedom of the Press = 1st Amendment to the Constitution which is what LEOs swear to protect.

Why are taxpayers so accepting of cops misbehaving when it costs so much to pay for their mistakes?

In the past week, I discovered videos about this very topic. I am stunned. These videos are mostly from the body worn cameras the police wear. Some are recorded by the "suspect".

I have lost all respect for law enforcement in the US.

The pervasiveness of these acts is stunning as well as how it's tolerated by some. The first step towards change is awareness, but I'm afraid that will take a generation since it's readily apparent that "seeing is not believing."

Arrested at gunpoint for honking their horn.
