...today as I was waking up and listening to 'freakonomics' on Texas public radio. In the Dallas area on Sunday's the choice is religion, freakonomics or how to invest your money. Anyway as my brain slowly became active I heard the words a “priority of care point system” used to determine who would get ventilators and critical care during the COVID-19 crisis.
It appears that senior citizens like myself who are retired and may have a 'underlying' condition like respiratory or heart problems etc definitely do not get enough points to warrant critical health care during the COVID-19 pandemic in a number of states.
I remember when they were fighting to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or obamacare there was much talk of death panels, well guess what folks in some states they are here. If you look at the policies for critical health care in NY there is a non-discrimination policy meaning everyone is equal based on need as opposed to Michigan where health care workers get the highest priority.
Now I understand the reasoning for this but wouldn't you consider a 64 year old over the road truck driver just as necessary as an healthcare worker? If that man didn't deliver the medicine to the hospital the healthcare workers would not have the medicine or equipment there to help those stricken by the coronavirus.

As I head to my once every two week
grocery run tomorrow
I hope Texas
is one of the states
that do not discriminate
because of age
or underlying condition.
