My alienated daughter called me last night to see if I was okay or needed anything. It doesn't sound like a big deal until you know that we wrote each other off and out of each other's lives four months ago. During this period, it was her boyfriend who visited me on my birthday (cupcake in hand) and who brought me groceries and kept me updated on the family status. It feels good to think that I may have a family again.

Thank you, Hollydolly. It has been such a painful, lonely time for me. Now, I have hope.

He is a gem! He is always offering to help with my house's fix-up needs... fixed the lawn tractor, the shower, modified my stairs that were too steep... I told her that if she cast him away, I wanted to take him in!
