Yes, the studies sound like they are contradictory, but are not.the difference in studies there show one thing presentation matters....
the study showing death is very close statistically the other mentioned says things like 6 X .......but that can be misleading ..
The Washington study says that for a general member of the population if you are not vaccinated you are more likely to die of Covid, as you say something like 6 X. It also says that you are more likely to get Covid, at about the same rate.
The part of the CDC study I cited says that once you get Covid your chances of dying are similar vaccinated or not. The difference is that people who are unvaccinated are more likely to get Covid.
Statistics can be confusing, without looking closely they can lead to wrong conclusions. The press is really good at that...
Many of us use statistics like a drunk uses a light pole, more for support than illumination...
I once knew a statistician who drown in a river that was on average 3 feet deep.
