Couple find $25,000 worth of rare coins in new home, return them to owner.

A South Carolina couple who recently moved into their home found a cache of rare coins worth about $25,000 -- and returned them to their owner.

James and Clarrisa Munford said they closed on their Columbia home in mid-October and were in the process of moving in when they discovered two cases of coins from the 1800s in a built-in closet drawer.

The Munfords returning the coins to the previous owner restores my faith in the basic goodness of people - - ever so slightly.

But the previous owner just saying thanks, and not offering a reward - perhaps a couple of the coins would have been appropriate - cancels that restoration of faith.

I don't think it's as rare as we imagine. If I found a cache like that it wouldn't occur to me to keep it, and believe most people would do the same.
It's not something I would do either but the 'me' generation is widespread. Some would look at it as a gift from God. "Didn't that televangelist say if I sent her a $1.00 it would be returned 10 fold?"

My sentiment to a T.

Sad we live in a society where doing the right thing is an oddity and newsworthy. I think most everyone would return it without even thinking otherwise. Don't you?
