Court says a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia can proceed for aiding the 9/11 hijackers with government assets. Saudi Arabia has been fighting the suit since 2003 and says they should be exempt for civil lawsuits in the US. Comes right around the 24th Anniversary of the attacks.

Judge: 9/11 families can pursue lawsuit against Saudi Arabia, citing alleged involvement in aiding hijackers

Alot of information has been out there but the post 9/11 administration and commission seemed to protect the Saudis . No doubt reasons included money, oil and maybe some stability in the region. It's a different regime now and maybe it wasn't even official policy to assist the hijackers but a faction with in the government did. It's time 9/11 victims and/or families get some justice from the culprits.

My question is why wasn’t Pakistan required to pay compensation? The mastermind was said to have been Khalid Sheikh Mohammed or (KSM) from Pakistan and was part of Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist group that was attached to Al-Qaeda? KSM is imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay for life.

The victims and survives were compensated through 2 other U.S. government sponsored agencies, if memory serves me correctly.

I also remember reading the Pakistan had not given permission to the U.S. to hunt for Bin Laden, a statement by Pakistan to not enter their country to hunt him down was ignored by the U.S. It was a messy situation for the U.S. Government and Pakistan when bin Laden was killed due to Pakistan declaring that the U.S. entered their country without permission. Pakistan officially objected to the violation of its sovereignty.

So now can Iraq sue the US for starting a war with them over 9/11 when they had nothing to do with it?

At the time they wanted to push the Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan narrative which was true to a point but there are terrorist movements, groups, hideouts all over the place. And Pakistan is a nuclear power so other than a snatch-grab special op they weren't going to do much.

Maybe any future deals with Pakistan should include them replenishing or reimbursing the 9/11 compensation funds, groups etc.

Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are low yield and has short distance capabilities. They also have a Navy and an Army, which is used to primarily to protect themselves against India. Because of their histories, Pakistan and India have long been enemies and felt protection from each other was necessary.

Iraq didn’t have to sue the U.S. The U.S. gave Iraq billions of dollars to help with reconstruction after the removal of Saddam Hussein and the Iraq War (not declared) was considered completed. Other countries also entered Iraq, along with the U.S. I believe it was Australia, the U.K. and Poland?

As we all know, no WMD’s were found.
