Court Shuts Down Firms Behind Millions of Robocalls

Owners are out of the robocall business for good

You may not have heard of Nicholas and Natasha Palumbo, but chances are they're responsible for annoying you at some point. The Justice Department says the Arizona couple and two companies they own have been permanently banned from sending robocalls to any American phone numbers or providing any other entity with US numbers, the Hill reports.

Usually I can block these calls but they are showing up as an unlisted number so my iphone doesn't know what to do... (and neither do I).

Blocking numbers doesn't help much. I do it, but these robocalls have the means to keep changing their number all the time. They are as smart as we are. (Though if you didn't pick up the first time, or blocked that number, I don't understand why they would expect you to pick up the next time, no matter what number they are using.)

Macgeek, I once had my fun with those car warranty people. She tells me my vehicle warranty is about to expire. (Of course, it isn't.)
Me: Oh gee, really? My warranty?
Her: Yes, for your vehicle.
Me: Which vehicle are we talking about?
Her: (Annoyed) Your CAR, ma'am.
Me: I know, but I own more than one. Which car is it?
Her: Your car, which you bought.
Me: When did I buy it?
Her: It's the latest car that you bought the most recently.

We went on like that for a while, and I finally just said, "Please don't bother me again with this nonsense," and hung up.

Of course, it didn't stop them, but it was fun.

I only have a cell phone now and sometimes I'll answer out of curiosity when it's a call from my area code. It's funny when they say my car warranty is about to expire because I haven't had a car in 15 years. I don't engage them though, I just hang up. But most of the time my phone shows "Spam likely" so most of the time I do not answer these calls.

Good riddance but I just got a robo-call. Not even a dent made. Lots of robo-callers in the world what's a few million less? Nuttin'.

And when will be victims be made whole and compensated for this crime? The Feds said they will never be allowed to venture into this line of corruption again! Big deal, what is the penalty?

Expose them for what they are. Post their pictures in the media, release their address, take their wealth and more than anything treat them like criminals they are.

This nonsense seems to have really erupted since this CoronaVirus became an issue. A couple of months ago, we were getting 8 or 10 of these calls per day. I finally installed a Call Blocker on our home phone, and that has dropped the number to just 1 or 2 a day....and we can quickly block them. This crap will probably never stop, but anything that can reduce it is worthwhile.

Great, let's hope they can ban the other 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 robocallers.
