COVID and Garage Sales

I was surprised to see just as many items being listed on FB Marketplace. Do people think anyone is going to come to their house to look at things right now? Currently there's no way to see if this will have any impact on the upcoming garage sale season. Our community-wide garage sale weekend is scheduled for May 16-17. Haven't heard if that will be postponed.

Deb, I seriously doubt there will be a yard sale season this spring/summer/fall. Even if there should be one, I doubt I'd go. Too much risk in exchange for a bargain. Where I live many towns require permits to hold these sales. Will people be able to get a permit during a pandemic?

Plus, when things return to normal, stores will probably have huge sales from being out of business for so long due inventory overload they'll need to shift. We may actually be able to buy summer stuff during summer for a bargain for a change.

Garage sales, during this virus issue, will probably attract few people. Between the potential of getting sick from handling others items, and the likelihood that more people will be unemployed in coming weeks, I doubt that many would waste much time/money on 2nd hand items.

Besides, as more states and cities limit activities to "essentials" only, I doubt that a garage sale would qualify as being essential.
