Crane Collapse on Tappan Zee Bridge

Whatta a mess...for those of you not familiar with the New York area, the Tappan Zee Bridge is a seven lane bridge that crosses the Hudson river from South Nyack to Tarrytown NY. There was a crane collapse this morning shutting down the bridge completely. The median amount of traffic daily is 150,000 vehicles per day.

The only things people can do at this point are be prepared to remain in or around their cars possibly into early morning tomorrow if they're lucky. Maybe you could post a big sign in the windshield " This is my cell #, when I can move this car give me a call"...

Then again you would still have to hike a bunch of miles to get clear enough for someone else to pick you up.

New York seems to be having at least one collapsed crane a year. Didn't one fall off a building last fall. At least no fatalities.
