Craving Sweets

I am really having an urge to eat something really sweet and gooey, but since I am doing so well losing weight lately, I hesitate. I also know that when sweets go in one end , they cause discomfort at the other end and can make my summer skin miseries worse. Is it worth it?

I found that when I stuck to something for a long time e.g giving up smoking I would just have an urge for just 1 cigarette but once I had that cigarette I felt I was starting all over again and the time that I did give up seemed irrelevant and I was upset with myself having gone so far. Guess it's a psychological thing. Would any fruit do the job @debodun ? Keep going if you can. :)

I keep bananas in the freezer for my sweet tooth. They're the closest thing to ice cream & it takes awhile to eat half of one when they're frozen.
A large banana has around 30 gms sugar - about the same as 2 med-sized fruits.

We may know that sweets are not good for us but the craving is strong. I'm an ice cream junkie. Occasionally I'll eat chocolate but it can stay in my house for a long time. I'm into those personal sized lemon pies. They can also stay here for awhile before I eat them. I am diabetic so I try to control my sweet tooth but it's hard! If it made me feel bad instantly, like it does you, maybe that would turn me off. Congratulations on your weight loss!

Even though I'm on a weight loss journey and have reduced sugar, I sometimes have a bite or two of something forbidden. A couple of savored bites of a candy bar are enough to satisfy that craving. I have two small squares of dark chocolate daily, because it's good for you.
Once you reduce sugar, everything tastes sweeter. I sometimes find some foods too sweet now.

I absolutely love dark chocolate. I eat some regularly.

I try to limit my sweets to a cookie or two a day. I'm usually successful but there are days when my willpower collapses completely.

The best advice I can offer is to not have sweets in the house if you're dieting or sugar causes you health problems.

Amen! I agree. You know it's there and the little voice keeps reminding you. Like I tell people, if you're a alky trying to quit, don't go in the liquor store.
