You'd be surprised how unaware most people are. At the beach, under the hot sun, they fall asleep and are lost to the world. There was a rash of burglaries at one of the New York beaches years ago - they'd just sit and wait until someone fell asleep, then boldly walk up and take their stuff when no-one was looking.
