Creamy Clam Chowder

I've been wanting to make this and finally had all the ingredients so I made it today. It sure is good.

I've never used carrot, celery, or chicken broth in clam chowder. Nor have I used cilantro, but hey, why not? It sounds and looks good.

In my area, fresh minced clams and their liquor are available in the seafood sections. However, I would call them chopped or diced, not minced. So, I simply hit them with my hand-blender. Fresh clams are so good.

I must say I never had Clam Chowder until a few week ago. And it was only about 2 tablespoons of a chowder being sampled at Costco. I was surprised at how much I liked it, so this recipe is very welcome

I bet that came out good Larry! I've never tried making it myself, but I love a good creamy New England Clam Chowder.

One of the few things my dad cooked for us was clam chowda from the locally famous Ipswich clams he dug. It had salt pork, whole (small) clams, and potatoes. He used the liquor from steaming the clams and possibly some milk. It was never the heavy creamy kind you find now. It was all about the clams.

Oooh I love Clam Chowder. We go down to the coast where my husband is from and they have Cockle sheds and fish restaurants right on the beach.. and the restaurants serve clam chowder in big breads bowls... deeeeelishus... ( no carrots or chicken in it though).. just big chunks of fish, onions, celery and cream sauce..
