Crochet ain't what it used to be

So I'm in several crochet groups on FB. To me it's all about the crochet, the patterns, the colours, etc. However, why do you have to crochet a blanket that says F... you on it and of course, show the photo of same. And good grief, there were hundreds of crocheters who just loved it. Hey, I'm no angel, I say the f word but somehow having it in a crocheted blanket is beyond me.

It's more about making humour out of profanity than it is about crochet. Like you, I know that swearing can have a place, the times that I have uttered it but always under my breath. There's 20 volumes of The Oxford English Dictionary, you would think that there's more to our language than a four letter profanity. Having said that, I once saw a large white truck with the 'F' word graffiti, written across the back. Someone else had rather amusingly expanded it to read:
Found Under Carnal Knowledge. Some people just have too much time on their hands.

Now imagine a movie about a hard-core street gang of crocheters, the “Hook and Loop” club! They’d terrorize the streets, pulling down rival gang members by snaring and tripping them up with their colorful, obscenity-laden blankets, then giving them the “needle,” literally. The climax of the movie would come with a big rumble with their dreaded rivals, the “Granny Gang!” Catchphrase, “No matter who wins, you lose!” Produced by Paramount Pictures, coming soon to a theater near you! Be there, or be square! Can…you…dig it?! 😸

Sorry, guess I never should have watched a re-run of “The Warriors!” 🙀

To each their own I guess. I embroider and also follow several Facebook groups that embroider. Some that say Modern Embroidery have a lot of pretty graphic pictures. Their workmanship is really good. lol No guessing what the embroidered pictures are of. 😱

Well there have also been books like " Stitch and Bitch" and " Stitch and Bitch " groups for Knitting which I was kind of shocked when that came out. But the F... you banket, wow!

The F word seems to be in vogue now. It's all over the TV and movies to the point that I won't watch some things I'd otherwise want to see. I often hear it in public places and that gets on my nerves. Used to be a man would never use that word in front of a woman. Now women use it just as much as men! What happened to the decorum of the older days?

horseless carriage: Where I live in Sydney Australia, there is a car which drives around the streets with the number plate that reads.
FECK - somebody said it's the way the Irish use the F word.

I thought it was cool to watch the Girls and my Mom do their magic with the needles.
Looking back, they had to have some real patience to create all that stuff. Even in
High School them Girls did that in their Home Ec Classes
