Customer service at it's errrm.. best

Well, it is Family Dollar, and I don't really see the back story to assess who is right and who is wrong. I can assess that they are all trashy people. And yes, we have more than our fair share in the Good Ole' US of A. :ROFLMAO:
I expect every country has their fair share of trash.

That is no where close to that kind of thing in any dollar store I have been in. Yes, I go to dollar stores. Ther are great for aluminum pans for freezing casseroles, some breads I can make in the loaf pans, to prepare a meal for a potluck or send home with my son. I also get gift bags, tissue paper and those type of things.

If I did see that, I would just put down anything and leave the store. Don't want to see it or hear it. If it looked like it was going to get violent, I would say call 911 as I left. I would do it myself but I don' carry a cell phone.

I was going to start a new thread about customer service but decided to search first to see if there was a recent one and came across this one.

I think customer service is all but gone in this country. Or so it seems that way from my recent experiences. Case in point (all took place on Saturday):

I went to a local, small market that primarily carries fruits, vegetables, dairy and meats. I went to the meat counter to purchase some bacon (they don't sell pre-packaged meats). I asked the girl who waited on me if I could see the bacon. She pointed to it in the cold case. I said "yes, I can see it but can you hold some up?". You might have thought I had two heads. She had an annoyed look on her face. I told her I wanted to see the meat to fat ratio. She said something about all bacon has fat with a sarcastic tone. I said 'thanks anyway" and walked away.
Next I went to Lowes to look at a storm door and a freezer. The guy in the appliance department really didn't know much about the freezer I was looking at except the price and that it was out of stock. I thanked him then walked over to where the storm doors were. The guy working that department was helpful but got annoyed when I asked him for warranty information. He said I could look it up online. I took the information booklet about the door and left.
Last, I went to another small business which was a little bakery in the next town over. They make lovely pastries, cakes, cookies, pies and cupcakes. I wanted to get something for my neighbors who were celebrating their anniversary. After I made my selection, I asked the girl if she could please put a ribbon around the box. She said "we don't have any ribbon". It was right there, on the counter behind her, visible to anyone. I should have pointed to it and said "what's that?" but I decided that customer service has died so I paid the $25, left the bakery, went home and put a pretty ribbon on it myself.
Do people really hate their jobs that much?

Yep... and it happens here precisely like that in so many places now. Tends to be the young who act in this way ( not all..and not to say some older assistants don't have attitudes either).. they aren't properly customer trained, and they simply think they should do as little as possible for their salary.. and they do....

I'm fed up with the same type of attitude we get here.. it's either a shrug, or a ''look it up on the internet '' when you ask for instructions, or a certain item... or they simply do not know how to deal with your question about anything. It seems to me that whoever employs them simply teaches them how to take the money and nothing else.. the customer used to be King, but nowadays it's a rare business who treats their customer as the person who they rely on for their salary..it seems to me if you asked them who is responsible for their salary, the customer wouldn't even come into the equation

The other day I stood alone in front of a counter in the pharmacy... where the sales assistant ( middle aged)..was having a conversation with the security man, about holidays. She looked over at me twice, and continued her conversation. Only when he was leaving did she turn to me and ask what I wanted... I said, I'm so sorry to interrupt your conversation.. and she said '' Oh that's alright ''... I gave her such a look, she was under no illusions that I was being sarcastic...

First she doesn't want the shirt.
Then it's the dearest thing to her heart. Sheesh. People are idiots. I don't care about the principle of the thing. It's a $1 damn shirt. Knock it off. The principle is stupid.

It looked to me as though the salesgirl threw the shirt on the end of the counter, saying, "here's your shirt, take it." But the other one's mouth was going on like a machine gun, so she never even heard her.
So glad it's possible to order from many places for car pick up these days.
