Cyclone Debbie Hitting Australia

That a nasty one hitting them at the moment ,and it's hitting the most popular tourist place in Australia ...sadly it will put the price of tropical fruit out of our price reach again ..most of our bananas come from that area and when the last cyclone struck our bananas with up to $14 kg ..compaired to the one I bought today for $1.40 kg

Terrible things "Cyclones & Hurricanes" they always
hurt people and that is very sad.

We complain about our weather, but it is very calm
compared to other areas of the World.

Tropical cyclone Debbie has wreaked havoc on much of Queensland before it settled down to a tropical storm. It is now dumping so much rain that the immediate problem is extensive flooding extending down to the northern rivers of New South Wales.

Hats off to the authorities that handled the situation so well that there has not been a single casualty of the cyclone and so far no-one has lost their life by driving their car into flood waters.

The economic cost of this weather event will be massive. Infrastructure in the form of roads and bridges will have to be rebuilt, again, and crops are so badly damaged that we will be paying high prices for Winter vegetables and fruit this year.

The tourism industry will take a big hit. Airlie Beach is a cruise ship destination and the whole of northern Queensland is popular for Winter holidays. The Whitsunday Islands have been heavily hit and their sole industry is tourism.

Still things could have been worse.
