daily napping habits for 80 year old seniors

I'm curious as to how much sleep/naps seniors in the 78-80- year old range gets daily. As I've gotten older sometimes I feel the need for a nap after meals. I don't want to turn into a lazy person in my senior years. Thanks for your input!

I never intentionally nap, but lately there are some days when I sit down and feel like dozing off. It might be the weather or it might be me.

Sometimes I nod off watching a movie, and then I have to rewind, maybe even up to a half hour, to see what I missed. But laying down to take a nap I just can't do. I may feel sleepy, but if I lay don't I'm not going to sleep or doze. I just stare and the ceiling. But if I get sick, I usually crash in the middle of the day, and might sleep for 5 hours. That's like a once every two years thing.

I try to avoid napping, but I'd say maybe once every other week I get uncontrollably fuzzy I'll submit, but try to keep it about half an hour.

My son burns the candle at both ends, but he takes a daily power nap, especially if he had / has a long motorcycle drive.

I'm not a napper at all--if I sleep in the daytime, I wake up with a stomach ache--but my Huzz naps a lot; just about the only time he doesn't nap is when he's asleep in bed, lol.

I'll be 80 in a few weeks, and over the past couple of years I almost always take a short nap after Supper. I plop down in the recliner, turn on the network news, and the next thing I know the local news is on. Gosh, I sure hate to miss all that bad news and the endless commercials.

Thanks everyone. My naps consist of 15 or 20 minutes in my recliner trying to watch tv. If I tried to sleep I probably couldn't.
