1944 war baby here.

I joined primarily to learn how others here deal with chronic musculoskeletal pain. A 40-year weightlifting hobby has resulted in arthritis from wrist to shoulder in both upper extremities. In addition, add to the left upper extremity a torn labrum, rotator cuff, and biceps tendon.

The good news is that these issues began only recently. Also, my lower extremities, i.e., hips, knees, and ankles are still in good shape.

Welcome. We have a "Military Veteran" Forum that might interest you and a Health section. Actually many forums here will interest you I'm sure. What name should we call you for short? Dama? Goody? Or your first name?

Welcome from Florida, Jack.

Sometimes simple ageing calls for change in both activities and attitude. Consult professions to be certain you're doing your best and then be accepting of what simply 'is.'

Welcome Jack. This truly is s great group of people.
I think you’ll fit right in.

Lara makes a great welcome wagon doesn’t she?
Sweet tea ❤

I’ll serenade you with some smooth jazz 🎷

Nice to meet you, Jack. Is this a common problem among weight-lifters? Perhaps it's something you need to warn people about. I know that lifting weights puts a tremendous strain on the heart and many weight lifters need to undergo surgery to repair the heart valve.

Rosemarie, I hadn't heard that lifting predisposes people to the issues I experience but I have no other explanation.

Knock on wood, my internal health, i.e., BP, lab values, colon, kidney, heart, etc. are good.
