Damn!!! I got scammed.

I got this email from my internet provided.( Well , the most recent one, they keep getting bought out) It said I had to upgrade to a 8.1, or my account wouldn't be working.? There was a link to do this. But the link was '404'-not found. I didn't want my email to be disrupted, so I spent a while, trying to figure out how to "upgrade" my email. I did look at the sending email address and it was Breezeline. After a hour, when I was about ready to strangle anything near me, I checked the address again-that's when I noticed the addition to what looked like the company address. AAAAhhhh!!
You can laugh at others, who fall for a scam, but it's really easy to become prey,

The best way to destroy a society is to create distrust. I don't trust unknown people and don't change anything. I suppose one of these days my phone or computer will stop working because I didn't update something. But then I will go to the appropriate business to resolve the problem by having one of their techs resolve the problem.

I want to say failure to have trust is a huge economic problem. No one wants to do business with people who can not be trusted.

I fell for a scam...šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«
Bought a new Printer and needed some help setting it up.
Somehow I got to website and I reluctantly paid for assistance and downloaded a program.
Then I needed more help and they wanted more money.
I deleted all there programs and I reloaded the correct program.
Have not had a problem since I did everything correctly.
I was scammed for sure.

The scam above cost us about $300.....
It still is not clear to me how I got off on the fake/scam website - but I did...

You have to be so careful these days.
It can happen to us all.

My husband nearly got scammed and it wasn't his fault. He had called our credit card company about an issue (can't recall what it was) and was talking to what he thought was a rep from there. I was sitting in the same room with him and half listening when I noticed that his responses indicated that weird questions were being asked that shouldn't have been.

I called out to him to hang up. Then I advised him to dial the same number again and this time he reached our credit card issuer. Somehow, scammers had intercepted the call and were impersonating them and offering a free gift card or something like that. He canceled our card immediately since the scammers had obtained the card number.

When I first got on the internet back around 1996 was the one and only time I got scammed by an email claiming to be AOL wanting me to verify my information. It had AOL logo and everything. They got my credit card info. A week following I got a call from 1-800-Flowers asking me to verify my order. When I told them I didn't order flowers they said we've got a credit card fraud and they cancelled the order.
I learned a lot that day about email scams. Never answer anything you weren't expecting.
