Dance

Before my girlfriend died, we took ballroom lessons. I did it to please her, but after the first year, I had to relent and tell her that I couldn’t keep going with the lessons. I learned a few nice lessons that I can get by on when needed, but I haven’t been out with another woman since my girlfriend died that did the Tango or Foxtrot.

When I was young my girlfriend and I went every Saturday night to the Trocadero Ballroom in Sydney. We had the best time and met some really nice people. A lot of Italian men who had arrived from the old country and looking for friendship.

Looking mighty good on the dance "floor" HC! No wonder all eyes are on you two. Is that couple on the left you two as well? I notice your wife always has on a dress and you a hat, that's why I'm asking.
What a lovely compliment, thank you. The photo on the left certainly is the two of us, the lady is scolding me for a dance move. It was a move that ended in a spin for the lady, instead of one spin I sent her round three times.
She wore her trouser suit because it was a pre-agreed exhibition dance. The dance was always popular, being in the days when we did a couple of hours fitness training a day. All that energy we put together with a gymnastic kind of jive, and, in the lady's words: "I'm not giving those dirty old men in the audience a flash of my stocking tops!"

Baby, don't you know I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch?
I will never, never let you go
I love you, oh, so much

Oh, I know (oh, I know)
That the music's fine like sparklin' wine (yes, I know, oh, I know)
Go and have your fun (yes, I know, oh, I know)
Laugh and sing (yes, I know)
But while we're apart (oh, I know)
Don't give your heart to anyone (yes, I know, oh, I know, yes, I know)

You can dance (you can dance)
Go and carry on 'til the night is gone, and it's time to go (you can dance)
If he asks (you can dance)
If you're all alone (you can dance)
Can he take you home? (you can dance)
You must tell him no (you can dance)
'Cause don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin', save the last dance for me (
