There have been cases of a new illness that is being carried by mosquitoes, and so far, it has been both deadly, and unstoppable.
It is carried by the Asian Tiger Mosquito, and has appeared in several countries thus far, including the United States. The illness seems to have the usual flu symptoms of high fever, and feeling really sick.
Now, they are saying on the news that they are also concerned about people who were at the World Cup games bringing it back with them. I am not sure if they think they might actually carry mosquitoes, or more likely, that once you get it, it is contagious.
At any rate, it is good to be sure and wear some kind of mosquito repellant when working outside. We don't have any cases here in Alabama (thus far)but the neighboring state of Tennessee had had several cases already, and it is spreading.
Apparently, these mosquitos can travel and breed further north now that the climate change is warming things up more than before; and they are also becoming more hardy; so what used to be a kind of tropical mosquito is evolving to be able to live in colder climates now, too.
