I don't know the answer to your question because I don't have PAYG... but are you using up data by taking pictures or videos or using Youtube perhaps ?.. just a thought

Pay as you go plans want you to give them money periodically, whether you've used up your existing data usage. By "data" they mean such things as your internet usage, texts and such. As for voice usage, that is: per minute (audio call) = ~2 MB, which could vary from carrier to carrier.

Elina, if you know you have enough data, you can ignore those notifications. You are able to turn them off. If there isn't an option at the bottom of the notifications to turn-off, stop or discontinue them, then you should be able to go to "settings" to turn them off.

i take a lot of pictures ..so is that classed has data then ...?

Photos as such do not use data unless you are backing them up to the internet.
Any internet use will use data, shopping, playing music etc.
I would advise you to think about a contract phone, PAYG is usually very expensive.

I'm going to contradict what Purwell said. Try your best not to be saddled in with a contract unless it's absolutely necessary! I don't know where you live so don't know what's available to you. There are companies now that don't bind you with contracts. I have Metro PCS and I love it. When I chose to upgrade my plan, they threw in Amazon Prime. I also love Metro because:
~My hotspot doesn't cost extra and it's secured. It only failed me once, for about 20 minutes while I was on the train traveling through rural Florida.
~The cell service is so much better than Sprint's (couldn't wait to get out of that contract) on which I had too many dropped calls.
~The bill is the same all the time (less expensive than Sprint) and there's no surprise extra charges.

Reminds me of the time my late wife and I were touring all 4 parts of the UK. We got this local phone and it seems that the data provider was from some place in Ireland. We would give them our money, make 1 lousy call and then be told we were out of data. What a rip-off. This was a measly flip phone. I don't trust those companies. So, now at home I have unlimited calling across Canada for my flip phone for $25 Canada and I don't worry. I really don't like companies that keep "ripping" their customers off.

I topped up my PAYG mobile phone about 10 years ago with £10, and I've still got £3.47 left - that's how much I use my phone.
I live in an area where the internet is slower than continental drift, so I use a 4g unlimited data sim for my internet. Just for day to day browsing and a few emails, I use a lot of data. If I talk to my family on Zoom, that really goggles up the data.

I don't know much about smart phone servers, and their billing methods I just got an Iphone. Consuner Reports said Ting was a good provider and cheap. Nobody seems to have ever heard of it. I used their very basic plan for less than $20/month. Even if you use a lot of data, or whatever the rates are still cheap. And the coverage is the same as everybody else. I know it sounds like I'm doing a commercial for them, but when I see what others are paying for the same thing- WOW.
