Daughter Had Me Reminiscing (Movies)

I went for quite a trip on the ol' memory lane today! My daughter asked about the first movies I saw in a theater. First movies were Tommy (The Who) and Apple Dumpling Gang, both from 1975. Most memorable was a year later... 1976 when Carrie hit the screen. Scared the living daylights out of me when that hand came through the ground and I watched where I was walking for quite a while after that. 😄 I never EVER thought I'd be saying these words, especially more than 40 years later, but man, I miss the 70s.

I remember the first time I went with my girlfriends to the movies. It was the first "grownup" thing we did. No adults just us. We went to see The Main Event with Barbara Streisand and Ryan O Neil. Then immediately we went to the record store to buy the record.
I have never seen The Main Event... and now I'm wondering why! I did see The Way We Were with Streisand and Love Story with O'Neal, though. It all seems sooooo long ago, doesn't it, @Barefootgirl ? Oh wait, I guess it was! 🤭

The first movie I recall my parents taking me to was Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. That head rolling scene has always stuck with me. A couple of years later I remember them taking me along so they could see Wait Until Dark. I guess my parents wanted to keep me scared as a kid.

Slap slap slap "Dammmm youuuu!!! Will you shut you mouth?"
De Havilland scared the beejeebers out of me!

Our local movie had Saturday matinees. My older sister dated a boy who worked at the movie. But one Saturday my Mom insisted my sister take me to the movie. My sister didn't want to but nobody would say no to my Mom. The movie was "The house of wax" starring. Vincent Price. I was so scared that I sat on my sister's lap crying.

That movie freaked me out too.
