Daughter involved in fatal accident

So sad for everyone involved. Glad your daughter is getting help dealing with this horrible accident.

How terrifying that must have been (and probably still is) for her. I can't imagine what you all must be going through. It could have all turned out so very differently, through absolutely no fault of her own.

Glad to hear she is ok, and getting counselling.

Thank goodness for caring employers - and loving parents.

Robusta, I'm so sorry to hear this happened to your daughter, she must be very upset. I'm glad that she wasn't injured or worse. I hope she does okay dealing with the emotional aspect of this horrible crash. I know two people who died from careless motorcycle accidents, not wearing helmets either. It's good that there's no question about her being at fault for the incident, that's a very good thing. Hugs for your daughter.

I drove down a street near my house a few years back right after an accident, the cops were there and the motorcycle driver was completely covered with a blanket in the middle of the street. The lady who hit him was wailing on her knees, she was crying and so upset. I've seen them weave in and out of traffic on that 40mph stretch, he probably whipped next to her and she didn't see him.

That is a terrible experience for anybody to go through.

Luckily she was not physically injured and that you were
near enough to be able to help.

She at least has her Mum & Dad to support her and have
their shoulders to cry on when she is down.

The accident must have been a fright for her as she was
looking ahead and got hit from the side, she wouldn't have
seen it coming.

I hope that the experience fades from her mind quickly.

Give her me regards.

Mike.

It is a terrible thing to happen for a person to be involved in a fatal crash. Not everyone reacts the same. Some people are able to shrug their shoulders and walk away, while others may feel devastated, even though they were blameless for the cause. It's just human nature. I am somewhat surprised that the policeman did not have the young lady transported to the hospital to determine her mental and physical condition. Evidently, she has suffered a traumatic event, which she is having an issue with and the policeman should have noticed this and at the very least; offered to have her checked out. It is usually best to get treatment as early as possible, even if it's a sedative to calm the nerves. I wish her well.

One of the worse crashes that I ever investigated was a motorcyclist going under a semi-trailer after striking the Mansfield Bar. It was a very gruesome sight to look at with his head laying 60 ft. (18m) away from the torso. We had that portion of the interstate shut down for almost 12 hours due to re-constructionists doing their job and pictures from a helicopter were being taken. (Had to wait for daylight. Accident occurred at 2:35 a.m. ) This crash was due to a combination of drugs & alcohol, along with speed. The cyclist's speed was estimated at between 88-92 mph. (141-148 Km)
