Day 5 of Quitting Smoklng

Way to go Beezer. Every day will get easier and you'll be able to go to movies, visit people in their homes, relax in restaurants, all without getting antsy for the smoke. Don't give another penny to the evil tobacco industry!

Thanks all for the encouraging words.

I posted that Header from my laptop and something got lost in the translation. I haven't convinced myself I've quit. I figure if I can last a month, I'll be on my way.
You know what helped me a lot, Beezer? For the first few weeks I held on to one cigarette and puffed on it (unlit) every time I felt the urge. The cigarette looked disgusting after a while so you might want to do what others suggest. Keep a glass of water nearby and sip it through a straw every time the urge hits you! Hang in there, it gets better. If you REALLY want to quit it's not so bad!

We are rooting for you, @Beezer !(y)
Each day is an accomplishment!
Less damage to your body and health, and less money wasted!

Keep going! Aim for a week, and then, add on another week!
Go for that month you mentioned!

Try all of the distractions you can muster up.
Perhaps make a list, and even ask others to add to it?

Things to do when you feel the urge; or better yet, before you have a chance to feel it!
I don't know what your physical abilities, are, so I hesitate to suggest specific ones for you or for others,
but do make your own list!

Such as, some would start with: Take a short walk, instead!
But for some of us who are not able to walk, we'd need to sub in something else that is doable.
Such as, make a list of 5 things you see out your window.

Good luck!
Carry on!

If you don't quit you could end up like me. I'm on oxygen 24/7, all the things I used to enjoy I can no longer do without a lot of fuss. Even getting dressed is a chore. Thankfully at least we don't have to pay for all this stuff!

Beezer, you will notice that your sense of taste will get sharper, your sense of smell will become keener and you won't smell like an old ash tray anymore, and ladies will find you irrisistable, well I fib a bit, but 3 out of 4 is pretty good. Well done. 😊

A day at a time, be careful not to do anything that normally makes you want to smoke. I recall I went into a bar with a business friend and had a beer. Wow, after that I really had a time not breaking down! I went home and showered, brushed my teeth, and ate really lite. After I made it through that night...I knew I was going to make it! That was in 1984, and I am still Tabacco free. Good luck!

Beezer, the reason it's so hard to quit is because you are not just quitting nicotine, the tobacco companies don't want you to quit, so to try and keep you addicted they spray the tobacco with additional addictive chemicals. Just keep going, and if you should light up, don't give up. Quitting isn't easy. but stick with it, with you all the way.
