"Grief-stricken South Africans are still searching for family members swept away by last week’s floods in which 435 people died and more than 40,000 were made homeless in the coastal city of Durban and the surrounding KwaZulu-Natal province."
Such a terrible, heartbreaking event proving yet again that nature is a force to be reckoned with.

Devastating. And this is the first I have heard of it. I didn't see a blip of this on either major cable news stations.

It was reported on World News Tonight with David Muir (ABC) on April 19th and more in depth coverage was on Good Morning America (ABC) on April 20th. I don't know if there was coverage on their evening news program.

I also saw a brief mention of this on World News Tonight, but I guess Americans have no interest. Most are more interested in Sherri Papini who faked her own kidnapping or Elon Musk buying Twitter. That is the mindset in our country.

It is the "Syria vs. Ukraine" syndrome. We tend to only care about people that look like us. I'll leave it a that.

Very tragic that so many South African citizens have lost their lives in this natural disaster.

I really should be watching more of the nightly news or the PBS news shows because CNN and FOX are pathetic.

I think that's true for some but not all.

Cable news isn't even news anymore.

most news is NOT news anymore ..... broadcast networks are not unbiased either and some at least in my area....... local is everything but local ...
we had many a major accident nearby and street closed for almost 6 hours ....
one can guess it was a fatality ...................but not one mention in any report and sometimes a week later people find out what happened ......
most stories on any outlets are often mere teasers.......... resulting in people truly interested to either having to look up any additional information or just getting partial stories.

Remember that CNN and MSNBc are mostly about politics and CNBC is about finances. FOX news is mostly about fake news to satisfy the right...:ROFLMAO: So you are definitely going to get biased reporting on those stations. Not saying that other news venues don't exhibit biases though.

Absolutely! I've been saying it's just partisan politics on those stations. Where's the actual news? I've started watching some PBS news programs and you get much better and actual news. And it's totally depressing.

Funny thing, I use the elliptical machine at the gym and there is a wall of TV's in front of me. I choose the machine between Fox News and CNN so I can go back and forth and laugh about how they are each positioning their stories.
