Dealing with neck and shoulder stiffness

I have noticed , lately, that I have had a lot of neck and shoulder stiffness. I was thinking it was a combination of how I hold my laptop on my lap , off to the side and turn my neck, and the fact I bought all new pillows. Getting used to them. Who knows. It seems to come and go. My doctor gacve me some exercises, but also said if I still have issues next visit, I should mention it to the PT she plans to refer me to for other issues.
I just have to find the right way to work at the laptop. May have to resort to sitting at the kitchen table with it.
I have bought a couple things that I hope will help. First, was a microwaveable heat wrap (complete with aromatherapy) and one more pillow. A contoured memory foam pillow. The pillow said it would probably take a few nights sleep on it to notice any effect. Last night I got a pretty comfortable sleep. And my neck seems to be loosening up.
I love the neck wrap. You can also chill it, but I have just used the heat option. Here is a picture of the pillow. Plus a link to the neck wrap. Both on Amazon

I went to PT for neck problems and my neck and shoulders were pretty stiff, too. One of the exercise that I really like is doing the slow shoulder rolls. I go backwards slowly with my shoulders about 10 of them at a time. I hear all kinds of popping, too.

That wrap looks good. I once had one with lavender in it that I put in the micro. Very relaxing!

I will second that it’s probably how you are using your laptop. One of the worse pains in my neck has most certainly been caused by improper posture while using a phone or computer and for too long.

I’m all for the things that can be heated or chilled and neck exercise. Look online to get suggestions on neck exercise. What Ruthanne suggested is a great idea. Those clicks and snaps feel so good.
