Dear Facebook, you're fired!

I had thought of posting in Computers & Phones, but my concern was not technology it was mental health.

I got to the point of just having enough of the fake garbage that gets served up, by the we-know-what-you-want algorithm, where you have to fact check every single item shoved your way. Fake, twisted, deception, lies...all designed to distort your view of reality...there's just no end to it.

The profit motive is glaringly obvious, the sinister purposes for destroying faith in what you see and think point to the Orwellian model of mind control and manipulation.

You are so right. I will look at facebook only to see a very few points of interest, church information, family photos, or local events. The disgusting thing is the volume of garbage you wade through for those few morsels of information. It is source of numerous scams, spam and constant pop up intrusions. I only access it when my wife tells me about one of those things that she knows I have an interest in. You put your thoughts under the right heading.

It's "entertainment" as far as I'm concerned and I use it to keep up with friends and relatives. Facebook is whatever you put into it and take out of it, just like all the other junk on the internet.

FB is s great way to keep in touch with people as that is what it was designed to do. My political hair-on-fire friends are good for finding sources to hide. I bet my hidden source file is close to 1000. If they get too obnoxious, they get hidden for 30 days. My FB feed is pretty clean now.
