Decaf dark blend?

I love dark coffee / espresso and appreciate the caffeine first thing in the morning. However, I have to abstain from coffee after after noon or else my sleep will be impacted.
Has anyone used decaffeinated coffee(dark) and if so was it palatable? Truly caffeine free?(100%).

How much caffeine is in decaf coffee?
Decaffeination removes about 97% or more of the caffeine in coffee beans. A typical cup of decaf coffee has about 2 mg of caffeine, compared to a typical cup of regular coffee, which has about 95 mg of caffeine. https://www.ncausa.org/Decaffeinated-Coffee

That's quite a reduction in caffeine, not sure how my sleep would fare though. Deep Sleep is the restorative phase, I'm determined to maximize that!

I really don't like the taste of decaf. I have the same problem so I only have one cup each morning.
That's my recollection from the last time I had decaf, some 40+ years ago.

You are truly blessed! I've heard others mention that benefit but I wonder if coffee has the opposite effect on me. 🤨
Blessed? I'm not so sure. I have to push harder than most people because I was told my rear opening is smaller than average. The difficulty was made clear when I was bedridden for half a year. Now coffee is a good laxative that I enjoy. I've heard decaf does this too but I still can't get past the taste. Maybe there are more tasty options now but I haven't tried it either.

I've read somewhere that decaf is not as healthy as reg coffee, it's in the way they process it (chems) to reduce the caffeine, only drink it by accident. But like RFW said & my wife claims also the laxative effect is her only reason she drinks a morn cup. I usually only now have (2)16 oz cups a day, anymore I'm in trouble. None after 1 PM.

Added: The lighter the roast the more caffeine. Dark roast cooks it out.

I like coffee and espresso also, but without caffeine it just ain't the same. Guess I don't like it well enough to drink decaf... Kind of like non-alcoholic beer.
Agreed. I've had a lifelong prejudice against decaf, but here in later-life the right kind of decaf has found a place. I can satisfy my espresso crave I sometimes get in the evenings, without worry of sleep repercussions. ;)

I can't drink beverages with caffeine due to heart issues so I gave up regular coffee seven years ago. I do have the occasional cup of decaf and have grown to like it.
