Deciding when to start using a rolator.

I had knee stuff going on and started falling more. I had a walker, but decided on buying a rolator because it had brakes on it. So, I started using it often, but stopped because my knee is better now. I had that regenerative stuff done on my knee. I am not falling that much now, it has been 4 months now. I got a used one on Amazon and it looks practically new. $41. I walk slower, more careful about my steps now.

I live my walker. Use it all the time. Put my purse in the basket and pile stuff on it when I shop. A place to hang my coat when it stores. A place to sit while in lines. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t have one. 😂
I even like to buy an apron for it, it has pockets on and I love the color and design. you can personalize them too.

Interesting. A few years ago, I had to choose between a rollator and 2 canes. I chose the canes. They're lightweight and don't take up space at home or in the car. I can use them on the stairs. If I want or need to have one hand free, I can switch to just one cane.

Recently a neighbor let me try her rollator when we went for a walk. I didn't like it. It held my upper body more rigid. That lack of natural movement put extra stress on my knees.

If others like their rollators, that's great. Just sayin' why I don't have one.

I volunteer at a hospice repairing their wheelchairs and other medical appliances. We had a stock of the zimmer frames (the ones with tennis balls) and we tossed them all. I bought and donated a number of rollators (Amazon-about $50 each), and that is what we are giving out.
The fact that they have brakes, a seat and storage makes them ideal.
YMMV

Well, you can’t put your very heavy purse in a cane 😂. But I do use a cane occasionally and sometimes two canes when I am just going for a very short walk.

Okay I have a bad right knee, so I would not want to use
a rollator would I /?? I mean to put the right knee on the pad
would just hurt more....????

I started using my rollator 4 years ago and it gave me my independence back. I have two bad knees (Osteoarthritis and Lymphedema) which makes it difficult to walk. I was using a cane for a number of years but once I started using the walker it was a whole different thing. I could go places. If I had to sit down, no problem. I use it in my apartment as well as when I go somewhere. I need it.

Like Aneeda said, I can put my purse in it while shopping and don't have to worry about someone stealing it. I am not comfortable using one of the store carts for shopping. I read labels and compare shop. You cannot do that from the sitting position. Wherever I am I can always sit down. I walk in the park with it and carry my camera in the bag under the seat. So it is safe and if I want to take pictures I can. I see people on the street with their little dogs in a basket on the seat. It has many uses besides helping me walk. You should see the size of some of the stuff I carry on mine! My laundry basket fits perfectly on the seat.
