Definitely not one of our better anniversaries.

I'm usually a pretty up beat person. I have a lot to be grateful for. I admit I get impatient with the hubby now and then but he takes it in stride and all in all we have a happy life.
Today is our 48th anniversary. I was a bit down because we were going to go to Atlantic City for a mini vacation. We hadn't been there in a very long time. We don't gamble much but I love the pool and was hoping to walk on the beach. Now all the casinos and restaurants are closed.
Easter came and went with no family visiting but I was looking forward to the trip my daughter and family would be taking to Lake Champlain in June. They had rented a house but had to cancel now or they wouldn't get a refund should the virus still be around.
This morning I got a call from my best friend who I've known since high school telling me that her hubby had passed away due to the virus. We shared a lot of good times together.
She is now totally alone with no family or friends left but me. Very sad. They both were in a nursing home in PA and she now has tested positive for the virus also although she is not sick.
On a brighter note, the little bit of family I have left called and we chatted for a long while. My daughter sent us a gift certificate for Netflix which I did manage to redeem. We have to watch it on the laptop because our TV is so old but we managed and enjoyed our first movie as we gorged ourselves with ice cream.
My son works alone in his cabinetry shop and has been able to find work to do for awhile anyway. Not being in contact with anyone he came and we had a nice dinner together and he did some odd jobs I wanted done around the house.
That always make mama very happy. lol
It was a trying day but my small family made it a little less sad.

Happy anniversary, to you both, Ruth!

Oh Ruth, so sorry about your friends' husband, and now she's only got you in the whole world left... so sorry about the fact you couldn't go with your plans for your special day...
Thank goodness, you're well, and your daughter and grandchildren , are well, that your son is well and working and you were able to spend time with him, so many of us would love to hug or even see our children... so that was a big gift for you.. 🧡

As my daughter says with great optimism that she really doesn't feel ...we'll all celebrate double next year...
