Delaware Prison Employee Killed During Riot & Hostage Standoff.

A Delaware prison employee was killed after an prison riot and hostage standoff. Negotiations mostly failed, police stormed the prison early this morning.

Victim/guard killed was 16 year veteran of the Delaware prison system and was the first corrections officer killed in Delaware.

It's believed the inmates had practiced the take over and sharp objects were used. Union blames staffing. Outsiders say inmates were complaining about conditions and knew something was brewing.

I am attending the funeral of one of the Officers on Saturday. This was a terrible tragedy. If you have never visited a prison for any reason, I would suggest that you not go. They are horrible places and even the visitors are at risk. I am only referring to the high risk prisons, of course. This particular prison help prisoners from low to high risk.
