Hi, I believe I've been experiencing symptoms of dementia? When I've spoken to a doctor about it, they brush it off as ageing? I don't believe that. I've researched it and it says it mostly hereditary? My grandmother died it and my mom has it. How do I get them to take me seriously? I have to get a referral to see a specialist. How can I get one if they don't believe me?

There is a wealth of information about cognitive conditions on the Internet....reading this info and trying to apply it to your specific conditions is a good place to start, and can go a long way towards getting a proper diagnosis and treatment from the doctors. Here is a pretty good summation of the various types of dementia, and how it can be treated. This organization even has a 24/7 helpline....1-800-272-3900.

OP: You can do a lot of things for YOURSELF. https://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/vitamins-and-dementia/

Do a search: supplements to ward off dementia

I would add to the list Grape Seed Extract and I can say that I've been taking it myself for about 23 yrs and it works on all circulation of the body, head to toe. And works to reduce amyloid production.

Search info on Coconut Oil and Dementia/Alz too. Lots of info on that.

If you have these thoughts, get to work yourself.

Go to another doctor. I told mine of my concerns and i was able to go get the neurocognitive tests without issue. The test was negative. I honestly don't believe they can test well at an early stage. A test is not the real world. And I feel frustrated that I forget things many times a day.

Hi, didn't get the appointment after all, the insurance company gave me the wrong doctor. I have to wait 30 more days to get appointment with new doctor, it's been made, July 17. Thanks for asking

Boy, I would not wait to get to doctors, I would be working on my brain now with so much info out there to guide us. If I even had a thought about memory issues, I'd take some control on my own real fast.

Thanks, HMO insurance are HORRIBLE to deal with, feeling a little self defeated hard to get any doctor to believe me? Just recently went to a session with my councilor told him about it
He even said that it was a symptom of me getting old? I have like you said doing what I can for myself. Finding things online. Everyday I get a brain teaser memory excercises. I'm also a little scared because lately I've forgetting one minute to the next that Quick? I don't know what I can say to get them to take me Seriously?
