Dental Implants

Do any of you have Dental Implants?

I hear you have to take a 2nd mortgage on your home to afford one.

Thanks,

My wife had to get one about 6-7 years ago.

I think it came to about four grand as I remember.

That shouldn't be a problem for a man of substantial means such as yourself.

Depending upon the tooth, and dentist, an implant can cost anywhere from $1500 to $5000...each. Getting a full mouth done would probably be in the $50,000 range...or more....which is why only the rich, and Hollywood types generally get implants. I checked with my dentist a couple years ago, about a missing tooth in the lower jaw, and he gave me a quote of $2800.

I have some new implants. Only time will tell for sure, and I don't have that many years left :), but I don't think I would EVER get a bridge to replace *one* missing tooth. You end up ruining one or both of the anchor teeth, bridges don't last forever, and bridges aren't cheap anymore either. I think an implant to replace *one* missing tooth is cheaper in the long run if they last. Of course implants weren't available years ago and you had no choice.

I don't have any and wouldn't dream of getting them. My sister in law had several done a few years back. It cost thousands. Then there were all the trips to the dentist afterwards to keep them clean and in good order.Recently all of them had to be removed because her gums were reseeding and she had gum infections . The extractions were done only after the dentist made several more thousands with deep cleanings which meant cleaning the roots. She was in pain for days after not to mention she looked like a chipmunk. No thank you.

My father got his about 30 years ago. He and they are still going strong.
My husband has them. We did not need to take out a mortgage to pay for them.

My eldest sister got her entire mouth done, first about 30 years ago and then had them all redone a few years ago. I don`t know why they needed to be redone. Originally, her full mouth cost $20,000-which we all thought was outrageously expensive. I`m sure her second go round cost much more than that, but I don`t know how much. Now my BIL,her husband, just had his done for his 80th birthday.

I got two in back on top. My insurance paid all but 20% for them since they were necessary and not cosmetic. I forget anymore what I did pay, maybe like two grand total. Mine are very comfortable.
