Deodorizing a Nalgene Bottle

I have a two liter sized drink bottle I use daily. The problem is the lid. It has a rubber stopper that keeps it from leaking. But you can't take the stopper out. It's built into the lid. When I have something milk or fruit based in it all day it tends to hold onto the smell. What might I soak the lid in so it gets extra clean???

If it's top-dishwasher safe, I find that's the only way to get odour out of those lids. Rinsing it out right after drinking might help.

Vinegar and soda cleans and deodorizes all those cups. We have plenty around here with and without spouts, straws, etc. Put in vinegar, add a little soda and it will foam. Let sit and try to get it all over in the bottle and lid. It will foam so don't screw the cap on tight and shake. Or, if you do, open VERY carefully as it will blow out.
