Did either of your parents have silly songs they sang?

My dad had quite a repertoire. Three that come to mind:

H you huckle
B you buckle
H you huckle I
H you huckle
B you buckle
Huckleberry pie.

Another:

Old man Kelly
had a pimple on his belly
so he showed it to the lady next door.
The lady next door put jelly on his belly

so it ain't gonna rain no more.

And this one:

I saw stars
I heard the birdies sing,
"Wake up! Wake up!"
The moment I fell for you.

Don't ask me to explain.

My dad would sing this about every morning and I'd get mad (I wasn't my most pleasant right after waking....):

Good morning, merry sunshine,
How did you wake so soon?
You've scared the little stars away,
And shone away the moon.
I watched you go to sleep last night,
Before I stopped my play,
How did you get way over there,
And, pray, where did you stay?

And I usually got the "...….don't let the bedbugs bite" routine at night, which I didn't like, either.

"As I was walking down the beach one bright and sunny day, I saw a great big wooden box a floating in the bay..."

Phil Harris: "The thing".

Just about every mother in Scotland as far as I am aware sang:

Ally bally ally bally bee
sittin' on yer mammies knee
greetin' for anither bawbee
tae buy some Coulter's candy.

Mike.

I would occasionally hear Mairzy Doats played in my parent's house, a novelty song written in 1943 that became a #1 hit in 1944. It kind of haunts me...

I know a ditty nutty as a fruitcake
Goofy as a goon and silly as a loon
Some call it pretty, others call it crazy
But they all sing this tune:

Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?
Yes! Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?

If the words sound queer and funny to your ear, a little bit jumbled and jivey
Sing "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy"

Oh! Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you-oo?
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?

❤️❤️My Mother used to sing Brahms' Lullaby...then she would give me butterfly kisses i.e. brushing her eyelashes against my cheek. I did the same with our children ❤️❤️

My mother loved to sing around the house all the time, although her vocal skills were mediocre at best.

My favorites were these weird foreign ditties she learned as a kid from her family where the the words themselves sounded hilarious and the interpretations were even goofier ("I love you so much I would even drink your dirty bath water!")

I learned a few of them to "impress" my friends and have a good laugh. I still remember them to this day.

Mom used to sing this one to my sister at bath time:

Kathrine, where are you going?
"Upstairs, to take a bath."
Kathrine, with legs like toothpicks
and a neck like a giraffe-raff-raff-raff-raff-raff-raff-raff.
Kathrine sat in the bathtub
and pulled out the plug.
Oh my goodness, oh my brain,
There goes Kathrine down the drain!

I don't remember any singing by either of my parents but my father whistled quite a lot, particularly to let people know where he was on the farm, and songs often heard included, "Beautiful Dreamer, (dream unto me,....)", and "Keep your arms around me honey, hold me tight, cuddle up, and snuggle up and hold me tight,...." :)

My dad cut a record when he was probably in his 30's. It was called "Sheik of Arabie"...I'm the Sheik of Arabie. your love belongs to me. It was on a 78 record. Wish I could find it..

He had a really good voice , he was always singing around the house.
