Did Obama reassure you with his speech on ISIS?

I wasn 't really impressed with his approach to this matter. It seems like a war without end when he talks about a generational struggle and relying on countries that can't govern or inspire their own populace to fight does not provide much confidence...

So, what would you have like to hear him say? What would have made you "impressed" with his approach to the ISIS problem?

I suppose you would rather have heard him say....
1.) We're sending 100,000 U.S. troops to Iraq and Syria and going to hunt down everyone associated with ISIS. Then you could have told how he misjudged the issue as we began seeing the coffins of our sons and daughters arriving at Dover AFB.
2.) We're going to bomb the entire region, taking hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. That'll show 'em. Meanwhile, the rest of the Free World wonders why the U.S. is worse than ISIS as every ally begins to turn against us.
3.) We're going to begin locking up anyone in the U.S. who is affiliated with the Islamic religion. That way, we will show ISIS they can't come here. That worked so well with the Japanese-Americans during WWII.

The likes of McCain would rather sit and carp about how poorly this POTUS is handling the ISIS problem, while offering nothing of value in ideas to turn things around. There was an excellent article this week about ISIS. Every one of the ISIS fighters is willing to die... feels they will be rewarded if they die for their "cause". They are fully and completely convinced any single person in the World whose religious beliefs differ in the slightest from theirs must be exterminated. If they must die to make that happen, their God will reward them accordingly. No other religion engrains that in their followers. No current World cult/dictatorship, except maybe North Korea, has a citizenry that believes such.

The various Islamic terror groups live within communities of innocents. If women and children were to try to flee as human shields, they are beheaded or shot dead in the streets. This cancer will take significant time to be eradicated... if ever. Without the assistance of the Middle East regional governments, it will take longer. We've tried to train them to fight. Not one group/country seems to have the same dedication and will to put ISIS down as ISIS has to continue gaining strength.

As we sent our sons and daughters to Iraq and Afghanistan we were told... "better to fight them there than here"! That worked well, didn't it? Shouldering the burden of removing Islamic terrorist from the face of this Earth is not worth one more American life!!!! But, as long as a segment of our society will pick apart every word and sentence uttered by this President, fault will be found.

So, what would you like to have heard????

You mean he actually said something worth listening to?
I haven't listened to him since he said "CHANGE".

I've had to change batteries in my remote control from changing channels so much when he comes on my TV.

First off, Ralphy is not a Republican, but Obama does not inspire me on foreign policy, which will become a major factor in the next election for both parties...

So.... what DOES inspire you on foreign policy? Bravado? Threats of War? or perhaps more war and more lives lost... What would you have wanted to hear from him?

We have had to go before and will probably have to ago again, and it may be better to go sooner rather than later while we can still do it with a professional army before we need a draft...

Personally, a draft might stop some of the war mongers from being so quick to send others' sons and daughters to be killed. Of course.. all the sleazy rich politicians would be able to keep THEIR kids out of it.

Isolationism can only last so long and then it will be time to act and, hopefully, before it is too late...

Ralphy.... you are showing your age... You are comparing this war to WWII, Korea, or even Vietnam... This war is not the same.. Oh sure.. the Radicals are in the ME rattling their sabers and cutting off a few heads, but.. they are HERE... and they are plotting how to kill us here.. Sending our kids over there to get killed will not stop them... our time and our money needs to be put into intelligence and into stopping them from committing atrocities right on our own soil.. Surveillance and strikes are sufficient to contain the little nest growing there, but does nothing to stop the spread of radicalism by social media, and the very real threat at home. More time and money needs to be spent on that.. not in getting our kids killed there for nothing.

Billions are being spent with very little success. Sorry, but unless we go to the source with force before they mestasize further we will have to later. They are locating in major population centers that our air strikes can't attack due to collateral damage and our efforts to get others to go in the ground have not been successful...

So exactly WHERE is the source?

As just mentioned, they are in the large cities, and mainly in the ME...

We take he cities one at a time and keep going until the core is destroyed and we don't have another 9/11...

Not a good response. We have had a volunteer military for many years now and it has worked very well. Especially with our high tech methods we use now. My son and daughter have both finished their volunteer military lives. Son was in Yugoslavia mess and then on to Iraq. My daughter was in Iraq for more than a year. Glad they are both back in the states. But also glad they did join the volunteer military. One was Navy and one was Army. Both had college degrees. Not one thing wrong with a voluntary military for the US.

Keeping the politicians our of our lives as much as possible is a big help in the US.

Oh bob... I could recite the entire text of the New Testament and you would find fault with it.. I don't pay any attention to your opinions about my opinions..

Well Obama has threatened war (Syria-line in the sand re: chemical weapons) and Russia (implied by his actions even if not his words) so if that's all it took, Obama could be said to impress. And let's not forget Libya where the US led out in that attack (buoyed I'm sure by the spectre of Gaddafi selling his oil for gold).
