Did Teddy Roosevelt really say this?

And if he did, was he a man before his time?
There once was a time in history when the limitation of governmental power
meant increasing liberty for the people. In the present day the limitation of
governmental power, of governmental action, means the enslavement of the people
by the great corporations, who can only be held in check through the extension
of governmental power.”

- Theodore Roosevelt

Thanks Warri; you persuaded me to look some up.

How about....the things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, and love of soft living and the get-rich quick theory of life.

A lot of his quotes seem to be intelligent, forward thinking, and basically true.

"When TR shook your hand, he meant it"! :)

Prolific hunter and former president Teddy Roosevelt lived out the last years of his life in a sprawling mansion on 83 acres in Oyster Bay, N.Y.

I did take the time to search for the quote in my OP and yes, it is genuine. I even found a link to the speech in which it was used but I've lost it now.
