Did you ever cheat in school?

The introduction of the ballpoint pen while I was in junior high made cheating easier than ever. So much material could be written on your arms and the palms of your hand that old fashioned methods were no longer needed, such as crib notes or looking on somebody else's paper. It was a breeze for me, how about you?

No, the thought of being exposed as a cheat was altogether too mortifying.
Besides, I quite enjoyed sitting for exams.

My school day sins consisted of not doing my homework unless I knew that it was going to be collected and eating my lunch under the desk on a regular basis.

I certainly did. I cheated at phys ed swimming class by pretending to hand in excuse notes written by my mother that were actually written by me. And I had lots of excuses.

Ralphy, your life of crime started early, LOL!!!

The comment about pens made me think of these old retractable ball point pens, when we were kids we used to open them and wrap notes around the plastic ink straw inside so we could pass notes.

As far as cheating goes, nope!

I was one of those kids that zipped through tests and always got a decent grade without much effort or study. That ability really made it hard for me when I went on to take more advanced courses because I never really learned how to study.

Nice assortment, but the early ones were not retractable and were quite messy. Nevertheless, they got the "job" done...

If I hadn't, there wouldn't be a diploma moldering away in a box in the closet. I wasn't stupid, merely lazy and in the manner of most teen-age girls of the times, intellectually incurious. Physics? Math or science of any sort? Nah.

Yes I did. It was a bit hard to do in grade school. Some of those teachers had eyes in the back of their heads. High school was much different. I went to a high school that really didn't much care if you were there or not. Cheating was easy. Also we sat in rows of two. It was great if you got a smart kid right next to you. I could look at my paper and at the kids next to me and not move my head an inch. My girlfriend was great in math,I was not, and she hated English as they called it back then. She let me copy her math and I read books and made her book reports. It was a great system. For one whole year I signed my Moms name on my report card. She knew I hated school and I had no intention of going to college so I guess she figured as long as the principle didn't call and I didn't get into any trouble she would let well enough alone. Luckily the nursing school I applied to gave a test of their own based on science, which I aced because I loved science. All they asked was for a high school diploma. No grades. I also did very well in nursing school and studied like crazy.

I just cried and said I was afraid of the water and they didn't make me go in. But, it backfired on me as I still can't swim and wish I could.

The only time I ever cheated, I'm sure the teacher knew I did. I was so dumb to think I could pull this off. The teacher told us to draw a picture of what we had eaten for dinner the night before. I was fascinated with those sectioned plates at the time. Like the ones TV dinners came in. So I drew a large rectangular plate with about 10 sections in it and then I drew all my favorite foods. Corn on the cob, watermelon, hotdog, m&ms, and I can't recall what else. My teacher made some comment about I sure had an interesting dinner didn't I? :love_heart:

Once in high school. I had Algebra II second period, and my girlfriend had it 8th period. At lunch, I told her as best I could, the questions that were on my test. The teacher apparently gave the same test both times. She did well. :)

No. I didn't. But in the 5th grade, XXXX Elliot sat behind me. She was out sick the day we got our arithmetic tests back. It was for long division. I noticed we got exactly the same grade and made exactly the same mistakes. She copied from me, which pissed me off. I yelled, "That little shit". I had to go to the principal's office. While she got off scott free, I had to stay after school till I memorized this crummy poem about white birch trees. And as you can see, it hasn't bothered me one damn bit. NOT ONE FXXXXXG BIT.

Once that I remember, probably other times that I've managed to forget.

In the 7th grade, we had to write a poem. I absolutely could not write poetry; my mind would lock up. I was panicking and copied a poem out of an old book. I'm pretty sure the teacher HAD to know I didn't write anything that impressive but I somehow got by with it.

No. I went to Catholic school and was scared of the nuns. Also, we were bombarded with information about what was a mortal sin and a venial sin. Cheating was only venial, but I still was afraid to cheat.
